Children from not so rich homes do not have access to the reading books they need, and the schools which are to provide them with these books are seriously lacking when it comes to providing reading materials.

source link LAMI alongside AYECI, have made it a mission to help raise the much needed awareness and support to increase the literacy skills and reading habits among millions of primary school children in need by providing as many reading books as possible to as many public primary schools across Nigeria.

And also, to build one library per year. In the next 1year, they would be embarking on a book donation tour to public primary schools in Lagos State to donate reading books to pupils in need and set up book banks in the communities.

The campaign is currently supported by the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board and Pearson Nigeria.

The book tour kicked off today, May 25, 2016, with Lami and some like-minded celebrities who believe and support the gift of literacy. They visited Jamal-tul Islamiyahh Primary School, at Igbo-Efon, Lekki. We will be posting pictures and videos of the successful first part of the gift of literacy book tour very soon.
